Primary Leadership Programmes

GRIP Student Leadership Conference – Year 6

Selected Year 6 Students have the opportunity to attend the annual GRIP Student Leadership Conference, an event aimed at empowering young leaders. Through workshops, interactive activities, and insights from seasoned leaders, students honed communication, goal setting, and teamwork skills. 

They returned invigorated and equipped with newfound confidence, ready to apply their learning in their daily lives. We believe in nurturing leadership abilities for success beyond the classroom, and this conference was a pivotal moment in our students' journeys towards becoming inspiring leaders.  

Primary Mentoring Programme

Our Primary Mentoring Programme, featuring cross-year level buddy allocations, brings forth a host of invaluable benefits to our school community. By pairing Year 6 students with Prep, Year 5 with Year 1, and Year 4 with Year 2, our structured mentoring programme not only fosters a sense of responsibility and leadership among our older students but also cultivates a nurturing environment where younger students feel welcomed and guided. The benefits include encompassing the development of social skills, empathy, and a strong sense of belonging. This inter-year bonding promotes a positive College culture, instilling our values of imagine, Listen and Respect (iLR). Through this innovative mentoring approach, we aim to create lasting connections that contribute to the holistic growth and wellbeing of all our students, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie throughout our school community.

Junior Secondary Leadership Programmes

Accelerate – Year 9

The Coomera Anglican College Year 9 Accelerate Program, is a groundbreaking initiative empowering students to shape their educational journey through personalised, project-based learning experiences. Rooted in fostering creativity, critical thinking, and enterprise skills, this program kicks off with the inspiring Lift-Off event, immersing students in talks by accomplished professionals spanning diverse fields, sparking curiosity and imagination.

From engaging discussions, students transition to hands-on workshops covering a spectrum of topics, like textile upcycling, augmented reality, and more, encouraging them to translate inspiration into tangible projects. Unlike traditional models, Accelerate gives students the freedom to choose their own learning paths, emphasising not just technical knowledge but essential skills like teamwork and problem-solving. Through informal assessment and a diverse range of learning avenues, including writing, arts, technology, and entrepreneurship, this innovative program prepares students to excel in an ever-changing world, fostering a culture of curiosity and adaptability.

Senior Secondary Leadership Programmes

In our Senior Secondary program, students flourish within an environment brimming with leadership opportunities that drive both personal development and community involvement. Our secondary students actively engage in serving and leading the College Community through various avenues. They take charge by orchestrating weekly assemblies, curating faith-based Worships, and spearheading impactful events like our renowned Spirit Week and the Sisters-of-Substance/Brothers-of-Substance (SoS and BoS) programmes. 

Moreover, these students, alongside Academic Prefects, play a pivotal role in a year-long mentoring and tutorial program. This program extends their guidance, friendship, and support to younger peers in Primary and Junior Secondary, fostering a culture of mentorship and camaraderie across all levels.

Service Learning 

The Service Learning Programme seeks to cultivate a profound transformation in our spirits and characters, aspiring to shape compassionate global citizens who exemplify faith-driven service. Our purpose is multi-faceted: first, to embrace dignity by acknowledging and honouring the precious and authentic qualities in one another; second, to embrace wisdom by engaging our minds in practices that foster deep knowing and understanding; third, to embrace hope by cultivating values centred around loving kindness and a commitment to the common good; and finally, to embrace justice by instilling habits of generous hospitality and actively participating in the building of a supportive and inclusive community. Through these principles, the Service Learning Programme not only imparts academic knowledge but also instils a sense of purpose and responsibility, nurturing individuals who are not only well-informed but also committed to making a positive impact on the world around them.

Year 12 Buddy Programme 

Our Year 12 Buddy Programme is a transformative initiative designed to foster a sense of community and support between the graduating seniors and younger students. Each Year 12 student is thoughtfully paired with a Primary Class, taking on the role of mentor throughout their final academic year. This program not only cultivates a sense of responsibility and leadership in our seniors but also creates a supportive environment for the younger students to navigate their early years of schooling. The Year 12 mentors serve as role models, offering guidance, encouragement, and academic assistance to their assigned Primary Class. Beyond academic support, the program builds a strong sense of community, as the older students share their experiences, insights, and lessons learned, creating lasting connections between different age groups within our school community. The Year 12 Buddy Programme is not just about academic success; it is a testament to our commitment to holistic education and the nurturing of positive relationships that extend beyond the classroom.
